Melanie Smith is an associate at Threlkeld Stevenson. She received her undergraduate degree in 2002 from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business and completed the Kelley School of Business Honors Program. In 2005, she graduated from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law.

She was admitted to practice in Indiana in 2005 and Arizona in 2009. She is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. She began her legal career serving as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Marion County, Indiana and Pima County, Arizona. She has prosecuted felony narcotic, property, and violent crimes. She has practiced insurance defense for the past seven years.

Melanie serves as a guardian ad litem volunteer for children in need of services in Hamilton County. She also volunteers with the Indianapolis Bar Association Homeless Project.
